CP-Meeting 4

I met Heike, Jamie, and a new Taiwanese friend of theirs, Karen, for pizza. My good friend Michelle also joined us. Michelle is Taiwanese-American and has been excited to meet my gals and have a chance to practice her Mandarin. We lead the entire conversation over dinner in English. Only when the girls struggled with finding the correct word, my friend Michelle would jump in and help. I know Michelle wanted to talk more in Mandarin, so we'll have to find a good balance. Maybe next time we can have the gals respond in English when Michelle speaks in Mandarin? Have some "Maninglish" action like "Spangish".

It was interesting when I asked them if they had plans to watch the Super Bowl and they had no idea what it was. Well, Heike knew about it, but the other two had no idea. They also had no idea what the Grammy's were and said they have never watched Oprah. Now that Really shocked me. I thought the whole world worshiped Oprah like I do! I'm joking, but seriously, doesn't everyone know who Oprah is? She's like Michael Jackson global stardom, I thought.

Next Wednesday we've decided to do something a little different and fun. Michelle is quite the gourmet chef, so we are going to host a cooking lesson/dinner party and will feature some american cuisine. Heike has said on a number of occasions how she doesn't know how to cook, so hopefully she'll learn how to use her kitchen a little bit! Oh, and Mellow Mushroom pizza is - Meh. I miss my Grimaldi's back in Jersey.
