Catherine Tutoring Lesson 1
After being stood up last week by my tutoring partner Jane, I figured I had been black listed in the non-English speaking community or something. But on Friday Jane and I were finally able to meet up and figure out what she needed help with. I was so excited to work with her, she is from Nigeria and currently is taking classes at FAMU. I cant wait to pick her brain this semester on the differences of culture and everyday life here in America. She told me that she wanted to work on pronunciation and communication, which is great because i'm sure by now all of you have realized that I am always talking. Also she wants me to help her with her financial aid situation and help her make a profile on a job site like Monster or Career Builder. We chatted for about an hour, I was afraid to prepair a lesson for the first meeting in case it was to easy or hard for her. The only "educational" part of our eeting was when I taught her how to figure out the price of items when they are on clearence. Luckly I am my mothers daughter and she has a fool proof system that is perfect for the math haters of the world. Jane seemed really excited just to talk and is looking forward to just having conversations and hopefully finding a job.
